The buffet breakfast spread is divided into three main sections. The Western Section is located at the main entrance to the dining hall. This side is the busiest section. This is also the side of the restaurant which is not facing directly to the sunrise. This is where you can find classic American breakfast items such as sausages and bacon, hash browns and roasted vegetables and egg dishes.

Toward the far end of the Western Section, the restaurant curves towards the Continental Section where all the breads and pastries, cereals, pancakes and waffles are served. This is also the section directly facing the sunrise. There are sheer curtains that can help soften the sunlight. The restaurant is also well air-conditioned that the interior temperature is kept to a comfortable level.

The restaurant further curves to the other side toward the Asian Section. The buffet spread includes mostly Thai and Chinese breakfast dishes. There is a dim sum station, a congee station, noodles station and a couple of hot dishes. I am not a fan of Western-style breakfast so I chose to be seated between the Asian Section and the Continental Section.

The restaurant is well staffed. I estimate that every 2-3 tables are manned by a wait staff which meant that all guests are well attended. As soon as I was seated, I was immediately provided with the beverage menu and a la carte breakfast menu. I ordered cappuccino, Thai omelet with steamed rice on the side and the chili egg.

Service was quick. Seconds after I got back with my danish pastry and muffin, my cappuccino was soon served on my table. They use really good quality coffee beans here. The danish pastry was flaky and the toppings used were fresh (unsweetened) berries. The blueberry muffin was moist and not too sweet.

Thai Omelet, Buffet Breakfast | The Brasserie, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

My favorite Thai breakfast dish has got to be the Thai Omelet. Here at The Brasserie, they do make perfect Thai Omelets, dark orange in color and with crispy edges. This went perfectly with the ketchup served on the side.

I also got interested by the Chili Egg. They are basically Thai-inspired eggs benedict. The crispy bacon contrasts the texture of the poached egg while the pork floss and the shrimp-chili paste gave it a very savory taste which is well complemented by the arugula leaves served with the dish.

From the Asian Section, I was pleasantly surprised to see my favorite Thai soup dish, the Tom Kha Gai which is a coconut milk based soup with chicken and rich aroma of galangal and lemongrass. There's also Beef Green Curry which went perfectly with steamed rice.

Other dishes I tried from the Asian Section are the Stir-fried Flat Rice Noodles, Egg Fried Rice, Steamed Pork Dumplings (siumai) and the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (har gao). They serve Thai-style steamed pork dumplings which are bit sweet compared to the Cantonese version. They also have salted eggs and century eggs from the congee station, which I personally prefer to eat with fried rice.

Finally, I tried some of the local fruits. The dragon fruit had a firm yet juicy flesh. The mango was also slightly firm yet very sweet and juicy. The papaya had a crunchy texture, no too juicy and not too sweet. I had orange juice to wash down all the flavorful dishes I enjoyed that morning.

I really enjoyed the breakfast here at The Brasserie. All the dishes I tried were expertly prepared and were served in the quality expected of a luxury hotel. Most importantly, service was very attentive. It felt like dining in a club lounge where each dining guest receive a high level of personalized service. The staff anticipates my needs, so much so, that I barely had to stand up to get food from the buffet.
