Buffet Breakfast at Café Kool | Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong

An overnight stay at Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong includes buffet breakfast for two persons at Café Kool, the all-day dining restaurant of the hotel. Located on the mezzanine level, the restaurant is accessible from the lobby and from the guestrooms through the hotel's elevator.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, you will be immediately assisted by the restaurant's staff to your preferred seating. Once seated, you will be asked for your room number followed by an offer for coffee or tea. If you are not a checked-in guest at the hotel, just tell the staff that you are a walk-in guest.

Cafe Kool has an extensive selection of freshly baked breads, viennoiserie and pastries. Next to it is the waffle, pancake and crepe station. There's a section where you can toast your slices bread. Various fruit jams are also available.

There's also Häagen-Dazs ice cream which you can pair with your waffles or crepe, or enjoy on their own. One of the must try from this station is the bread & butter pudding which is perfect with vanilla ice cream.

Cafe Kool has one of the biggest salad stations I've seen in a buffet breakfast setting. There's an extensive selection of fresh greens and other vegetables, as well as pickled and preserved salad toppings. There's also a wide selection of cream and olive oil-based salad dressings. Behind the salad station are the cereals, yogurts, charcuterie and cheeses section.

Next to the salad station is the Dim Sum station. This is one of the busiest stations of the buffet since dim sum is a popular breakfast item here in Hong Kong. The kitchen staff are really doing a great job replenishing the empty bamboo containers.

Various Asian hot dishes are also served on the buffet including some Malaysian and Japanese dishes. You can also find steamed rice and fried rice in this section. There's also a separate station for noodle soup where you can choose the type of noodle as well as meats and toppings to go with your soup. Finally, you can choose the broth for your soup. Feel free to ask the chef to create one for you.

There's a station dedicated to Indian cuisine serving roti and various lentil and masala based condiments. There's also an egg station where you can have omelette made a la minute. Sunny side, scrambled and hard boild eggs are also available.

The Western station serves classic American breakfast items such as hash brown, bacon, a variety of sausages, ham, and beans. Finally, the fruit station serves fresh fruits and fruit juices.

Here are some of the dishes we had for breakfast during our stay at Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong.

Cafe Kool makes its own dim sum which is popular among Chinese guests. Dim sum is best paired with hot tea.

Egg noodle, fish balls, squid balls and chicken soup is a filling breakfast. The soup is also perfect to warm your tummy, especially during the cold months in Hong Kong.

Eggs cooked to your preference. We had sunny side eggs which we paired with assorted breads.

On the sweet side, we had chocolate croissant and bread & butter pudding with vanilla sauce. Perfect with freshly brewed coffee.

Heavy breakfast of beans, bacon, sausage, hash brown and buttered vegetables, paired with a bowl of fresh fruits and a glass of fresh orange juice.

Buffet breakfast is available daily from 6:30am to 10:00am. Business travelers can take advantage of the early opening of the buffet at 6:30am to make it to their work on time. Tourists, on the other hand, have more flexibility and can either have early or late breakfast, depending on their travel itinerary. Finally, stycationers can spend more time in bed in the morning and take their late breakfast at 9:00am.
