Hung Tong Restaurant at Kerry Hotel Hong Kong

Hung Tong (紅糖) is a Chinese restaurant at the newly opened Kerry Hotel Hong Kong which serves nouvelle cuisine chinoise (new Chinese cuisine), a combination of classical Chinese cooking techniques and contemporary and stylish food presentation.

Located on the 7th floor of the hotel, Hung Tong has a contemporary interior filled with warm colors from the exposed bricks, wooden furniture and leather chairs. The interior combines elements of old-world design such as the jalousie glass wall and contemporary furniture and lighting fixtures. The restaurant has a floor-to-ceiling window that offers panoramic view of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island at the background.

Hung Tong as a Dimsum Menu and an A la Carte Menu, both offering classic and contemporary Cantonese and regional Chinese dishes. Below are some of the dishes I sampled during my stay at Kerry Hotel Hong Kong.


Pan-fried Rice Rolls with Homemade XO Sauce and Soy Sauce - very gelatinous but dense, not too sticky and not oily either, has a savory taste with mild sweetness, very addicting but filling

Steamed Wild Mushroom Dumplings with Black Truffle - mildly earthy taste with hints of truffle, perfectly steamed in a delicate dumpling pouch, very mild taste of saltiness

Steamed Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings with Fish Roe and Asparagus - I love the taste of fresh seafood used in this dumpling, mildly savory and hints of sweetness, the asparagus added a texture of crunchiness, this is a must try!

Deep-fried Roast Goose and Mushroom Puffs - too cute to be eaten, very crispy and flaky, not oily at all, rich flavors of roast goose in a sweet savory sauce matches the mildly salty crust


Deep-fried Crispy Tofu with Spiced Salt - one of my favorites from the menu, extremely addicting, beautiful contrast of crunchy crust and delicate tofu texture inside, the flavorful coating is balanced out by the tofu, a definite must try!

Seasonal Vegetables Poached in Supreme Broth - a refreshing break from all the flavorful dishes, very simple yet delicious, you can tell the freshness of the vegetables from its natural crunchy texture and mildly sweet aftertaste

Poached Rice with Seafood in Lobster Soup - your Hung Tong experience is not complete without ordering this dish, what a great discovery, it was my first time try this dish, apparently it is very famous among locals in Hong Kong, the crunchy rice in a savory seafood broth were an amazing combination, a must try indeed!

Braised Abalone with Black Mushrooms and Vegetables - made with fresh abalone and cooked perfectly, easy on the bite, the mushrooms and vegetables were not overcooked, very flavorful and would go perfectly with steamed rice in my opinion

Barbecued Prime Iberico Pork with Maple Syrup - a fancy version of a Hong Kong classic that actually works, it has the right texture, perfectly glazed and caramelized, perfect with steamed buns!

Chilled Mango Sago Cream with Pomelo - I may be predictable when it come to desserts, but this is my favorite dessert in Hong Kong, the way I want it, sweet and slightly sour, with generous bits of pomelo and mangoes, what a great way to end a meal
