Kon Tiki Restaurant is the Polynesian-inspired restaurant of Shangri-La Sanya. It complements the nickname of Sanya as the Hawaii of the East. The restaurant serves South Pacific cuisine as well Hawaiian-themed dishes made of the freshest seafood in a tropical resort setting.
During my recent visit to Sanya, I was able to sample some of the dishes offered at Kon Tiki. We started out lunch with Garden Salad which was freshly tossed next to our table and carefully served on our plate by the staff. The lettuce was crunchy and tasted fresh.
The next dish served was the Cream of Mushroom Soup. The soup was thick and had a rich and creamy mushroom flavor. Four a soup dish, this one is very filling. I loved the contrast in texture that the croutons added to the soup.
Four the main course, we had Pan-fried Cod Fish with Mixed Vegetables. Fried to golden perfection, the skin and the crusting locked in all the freshness goodness of the fish that was juicy and sweet. The vegetables were crunchy fresh and also had a naturally sweet taste.
Finally, for dessert, we had Chocolate Cake with Hazelnut which I paired with a latte. The cake was not super sweet, you could actually savor the natural taste of chocolate with hints of hazelnut.
