Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit (曼谷素坤逸凯悦酒店) opened in December 2018 marking the entry of the Hyatt Regency brand in the Thai capital. It is now the fourth Hyatt brand of hotel operating in Bangkok. Located along Sukhumvit Road and near the Nana BTS Station, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is an ideal base for business and leisure travelers.

The interior of the hotel is inspired by a traditional Thai house with elements taken from the local culture, religion and fashion. Adding to the sense of arrival is the gracious hospitality of the hotel's receptionists and concierge. Arriving guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink of iced pea flower tea and are led to the front desk for their check-in.

The hotel has a modern yet classy vibe. Majority of the hotel's staff are in their 20's and they give the hotel a very youthful and casual spirit, a perfect fit for the young, progressive and jet-setting business and leisure travelers.

► FITNESS & WELLNESS FACILITIES AT HYATT REGENCY BANGKOK SUKHUMVIT

With only 273 guestrooms and suites, I am surprised that Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit has such a huge gym with plenty of work-out machines and equipment and sufficient space for guests to comfortably move around. The gym is located on the sixth floor and is open for 24 hours.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Swimming Pool

One of my favorite spots in the hotel is the outdoor swimming pool. The hotel being located in the very busy Sukhumvit Street, you would expect the hotel to be surrounded by tall buildings. Surprisingly, the outdoor swimming pool has an unobstructed view of Bangkok.

The outdoor space is also filled with ornamental trees and plants which added an urban garden feel to the area. If you don't like the sun too much, morning is the perfect time to swim. In the afternoon, you will be rewarded with a spectacular sunset.

► HYATT REGENCY BANGKOK SUKHUMVIT: CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS

Overall, I loved my stay here at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, and this being my first experience with the Hyatt Regency brand, it will become my benchmark for my future stays in other Hyatt Regency properties. This definitely a five-star property in terms of physical specifications, this is well supported by the high standard of customer service.

  • Hotel Facilities - I definitely love the Thai-inspired design of the hotel. The choice of theme gives an understated luxury feel that encourages a casual yet professional attitude. The common areas were kept very orderly, from the pillows at the lobby lounge to the used towels at the swimming pool area.
  • Room Amenities - I also love the touches of Thai design inside the room. They really make you feel you are in Thailand. The Handy smartphone is a big plus! Kudos for providing local branded tea (Chaidim) and for drinking water in glass bottles. Most importantly, I had an uninterrupted sleep and felt very well rested after my stay.
  • Food & Beverage - When in Thailand, eat Thai food. Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit made this effortless through its Market Cafe restaurant. I love their concept of serving authentic Thai cuisine which is not adjusted to the taste of the tourist. The authenticity of the taste should never be compromised, and that makes the experience more authentic too.
  • Customer Service - I think this is the most effortless part of the hotel. Thai people are naturally hospitable and outstanding customer service is the norm. On top of that, the staff here at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit have the "can do" attitude. Special thanks to Esther of the front desk for making my late check-out possible despite the high occupancy.
  • Room Rate - Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is fairly priced a little bit higher than other Bangkok hotels in the same category. Considering that this is a very new hotel and the in-room amenities are state-of-the-art, not to mention the Handy smartphone, you really get more value out of the minimal premium you pay.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit

Am I gonna stay here again in my future trips to Bangkok? Definitely yes! I think Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit can cater to my needs no matter what the purpose of my trip to Bangkok is.

  • Leisure Travel - It's good location along Sukhumvit Road and near the Nana BTS Station makes Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit a perfect based to explore the touristy district of the city. The hotel is also surrounded by boutique stores and high-end shopping malls. You will also not run out of choices for international restaurants in the area.
  • Business Travel - If you will be visiting clients during your stay, then the nearby Nana BTS Station will be your easy access to Bangkok's network of sky trains and subway. It is also very easy to get a Grab car from your smartphone. Working inside the guestroom is effortless with the complimentary wifi internet access. The Handy smartphone also allows you to make international calls free of charge. If you expect to receive clients for a meeting, I recommend that you book a Club room so you can take advantage of the exclusive Regency Club Lounge as a venue for a client meeting. For bigger venues, you can book one of the hotel's meeting rooms.
  • Staycation - Flying to Bangkok for a staycation? Why not. For most of us who spend five days a week at work, a weekend escape away from home is all we need to unwind. Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is an ideal based for a spontaneous weekend staycation in Bangkok. A sudden craving for street food or retail therapy is effortless because of the hotel's central location. If you prefer to just inside the hotel, you can, of course, lock yourself inside the room and catch up on your Netflix playlist and order in-room dining. In my case, I take this opportunity to catch-up on badly needed sleep.

► HYATT REGENCY BANGKOK SUKHUMVIT: LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION

View of Bangkok from Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit

Hyatt Regency is located at the corner of Sukhumvit Road and Sukhumvit Soi 13. It is easily accessible via the Nana Station of the BTS Sukumvit Line. Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) is located some 25km north of the hotel while Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is located some 29km east of the hotel.

  • International Flights - Bangkok has two of the busiest airports in Asia if not the world. Several full service and low cost carriers have daily flights to Bangkok coming from key cities in Asia, Middle East, Australia, Europe and North America.
  • Airport Transfer - My preferred way to get to the city from either airports (DMK or BKK) is to book a GrabCar using the Grab app. Fare is fixed plus toll fees of THB120.00. Grab fare from DMK or BKK airports to the hotel is around THB320.00 to THB350.00 depending on the time of the day.
  • Airport Rail Link - A cheaper way to get to the city from Suvarnabhumi Airport is to take the Airport Rail Link MRT Line. To get to the hotel, you must transfer from the Makkasan Station of the Airport Rail Link MRT Line to the Petchaburi Station of the MRT Blue Line, then another transfer from the Sukhumvit Station of the MRT Blue Line to the Asok Station of the Sukhumvit BTS Line. Get off at the Nana Station of the BTS Line and take the sky bridge connecting Nana Station to the hotel.
  • Moving Around - For long distance trips within Bangkok, I suggest that you take the BTS Line sky train. It will save you more time in this city know for its traffic jams. For shorter distances, I recommend taking a GrabCar instead.
