The breakfast buffet features an extensive selection of Continental, Western, Chinese, and local Balinese breakfast specialties. The breakfast buffet also includes free-flowing coffee, tea, chilled fruit juices, and fresh fruit juices. Here are some of the breakfast items I tried during my four-day stay at Hilton Bali Resort.

Bubur Ayam is an Indonesian-style rice porridge. Chicken fillet strips are added to the plain rice porridge, together with other toppings such as salted egg, toasted ginger flakes, roasted peanuts. Finally, hot chicken broth is poured over the rice porridge. You can also add fresh chili for an extra kick of spiciness.

Indonesian Rice Cakes | Grain Restaurant, Hilton Bali Resort

Indonesian Rice Cakes - Rice cakes are a favorite among Asians because they are very filling and are packed with energy. Some of the ones we tried were the martabak manis (Indonesian rice pancakes), dadar gulung (caramelized coconut wrapped in rice crepe), kue lupis (steamed glutinous rice), and pisang goreng (fried banana wrapped with rice flour batter).

Tropical Fruits - Never leave the buffet without trying the fresh tropical fruits. The yellow watermelons and ripe papayas were very sweet and juicy. My top favorite is definitely the snake fruit which I only get to eat when I am in Indonesia.

Snake Fruit got its name from its shell that resembles the scaly skin of a snake. Under the shell are three lobes of the fruit. The white fleshy part taste like a cross between coconut and lychee.
