The Peacock Alley is located on the upper lobby of the hotel and stands right behind the reception. The area is clad in white marbles with floor to ceiling glass window allowing natural light to stream in. Guests seated by the glass window enjoy an overlooking view of the verdant field of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

Taking inspiration from the Art Deco design of the original Waldorf Astoria New York, the interior of the Peacock Alley Waldorf Astoria Bangkok beautifully combined decorative brass metal panels with sleek modern furniture, capturing both the glamour of New York and the gracious elegance of Bangkok.

Peacock Alley can accommodate up to 70 people with tables good for a couple or a group of friends. Most of the guests are business people having casual meetings over coffee. The busiest time is during afternoon tea (1:00pm to 5:00pm) especially close to sunset time. The most coveted sitting area is the one located at the corner where guests are delighted with a panoramic view of the city.

The Peacock Alley got its name from the corridor which connected the original Waldorf Hotel and Astoria Hotel back in the 1800s, and it is symbolized by the double hyphen which appears in the Walforf-Astoria logo. The Peacock Alley is now present in all Waldorf Astoria hotels and resorts around the world.

The centerpiece of the Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is the large bronze clock mounted at the bar. Every Waldorf Astoria property has a huge clock placed in its public area. This is inspired by the bronze clock tower at the lobby of Waldorf Astoria New York which served as the unofficial meeting point in the hotel. "I'll meet you at the clock" has been a common expression among Waldorf Astoria guests, and this tradition continues in Bangkok right here at the Peacock Alley.

The a la carte menu features Western and Thai-inspired sandwiches, as well as pastries, cakes and salads. Their afternoon tea set is good for two persons and includes a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pastries and choices of loose leaf teas.

Siamese Dark Chocolate Lava Cake of Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

I tried their Siamese Dark Chocolate Lava Cake which is a warm chocolate cake made with 60% chocolate sourced from Chiang Mai and served with a scoop of Thai tea ice cream. The chocolate cake was moist, with full-bodied chocolate flavor, not too sweet neither too bitter. The Thai tea ice cream tasted exactly like a creamy Thai milk tea.
