Highlights & Must-Try Dishes
Krupuk at Daily Social, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort
Krupuk | Daily Social, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

Indonesian food is one of the main reasons why I travel to Bali. In addition to Western and Asian cuisine, Daily Social does serve a variety of Indonesian dishes. Here are some of the local specialties I tried, most of which I tasted for the first time. As with any meal here in Bali, I was served with krupuk (crackers) as an appetizer while I wait for my dishes.

Pangsit Udang by Daily Social at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

Pangsit Udang are steamed dumplings stuffed with minced shrimp. Here at Daily Social, they serve the dumplings topped with sambal roa, a type of chili paste with smoked fish, and bawang merah goreng (crispy fried shallot). The sambal enhanced the umami of the dumplings while the fried shallot added a crunchy texture.

Mie Gomak by Daily Social at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

Mie Gomak Medan is a specialty noodle dish originating from the North Sumatran city of Medan. This is a thick noodle dish in a creamy and mildly spicy broth made of coconut milk, garlic, onion, galangal, red spur chili peppers, turmeric, candlenut, lemongrass, and andaliman pepper. This is one of my favorites that you must try here at Daily Social Bali.

Nasi Bakar Ayam Kemangi by Daily Social at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

Nasi Bakar Ayam Kemangi is another Indonesian dish I am trying for the first time. This dish is made with coconut rice and fragrant chicken wrapped in banana leaf and then grilled before serving. Both the rice and the chicken are flavored with kemangi (lemon basil). The dish is then served with pickled cucumber and sambal embe (Balinese fried shallot chili paste).
