Dinner Buffet and Cultural Night at Tepi Laut Makan Street | Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort & Spa

Tepi Laut Makan Street is a Malaysian restaurant located at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu. Tepi Laut serves traditional Malay, Indian and Peranakan dishes in a setting inspired by Malaysia's shop-house restaurants.

Tepi Laut is famous for its dinner buffet showcasing the different street food and heritage dishes of Malaysia. The restaurant is fashioned into a food strip with various food stations specializing in different Malaysian cuisines.

The Curry House features classic Malay and Indian dishes centered on curry and other fragrant spices. The Roti House serves freshly made Indian roti which guests can pair with their choice of dip.

A station is dedicated for Fresh Vegetables locally sourced in Sabah. Guests can have their choice of vegetables cooked to their preference. The Asian Grill features fresh seafood and marinated meat grilled a la minute.

The Wok Fry House serves Malay, Peranakan and Chinese dishes while the Noodle and Chinese BBQ station showcases Chinese and Malay noodle dishes as well as Cantonese-style roast duck.

Here is my plate of assorted Malaysian dishes such as Beef Rendang, Chicken Satay, Roast Duck and Chicken Curry.  I also got to try Curry Laksa, a noodle dish in a spicy and creamy coconut milk broth. The buffet also includes fresh fruits as well as western and local dessert items.

Every Wednesday and Saturday, resort guests will also enjoy a Cultural Show featuring traditional dances of different tribes of Sabah. During my visit, I was able to watch the Magunatip Dance of the Murut tribe.

The group also demonstrated how to use the sumpit, a native weapon used for hunting animals. The most entertaining of all would be the fire dancing and fire eating performance.

Dinner Buffet at Tepi Laut Makan Street is available to in-house and walk-in guests for RM145.00 nett per person. Dinner Buffet with Cultural Night Performance during Wednesdays and Saturdays are at RM158.00 nett per person. I strongly recommend that you make prior reservation as the restaurant can get really full especially during cultural nights. If it is your first time to watch the cultural show at Tepi Laut, make sure you reserve a table in front of the stage.
